Product Description

The Forains d'Orient, a pair of cups produced in Vienna, Austria, in the early 19th century, inspired the FODO pattern.

Initially, the motifs on European porcelain pieces were copies of Far Eastern models. However, while the characteristic Chinese and Japanese motifs often carried symbolic meaning, European manufacturers used them purely for decorative purposes. This style, known as Chinoise, was widely used in art and design, and this set, depicting Oriental characters, is a striking example. The rim of each snow-white piece, the handles of the cup, sugar bowl and milk jug, the soup bowl and serving pieces, and the lid handles and handles, are lavishly gilded. The plates are decorated with various combinations of six Chinese figures, six exotic birds, dragons, and plants, set on a gold-flecked background.

19. The Herend Porcelain Manufactory, the most important porcelain supplier to the imperial court in the second half of the 18th century, was authorized by Emperor Franz Joseph to use the factory's patterns following the closure of the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory in 1864. However, Herend artists didn't just adopt these motifs; as seen in the FODO pattern, they adapted and reinterpreted them for their own painting styles. Have the freedom to create your own sets or individual pieces. Combine different patterns and decorations to create a table setting that reflects your personal style.

Herend is not just a porcelain brand; it's an art form passed down from generation to generation. While traditional methods are used in porcelain production, technology is utilized only for heating the kilns. Porcelain's unique whiteness, transparency, and clarity are achieved with a special blend of raw materials. Specially trained painters at Herend paint the figures in daylight. Only those who hold the title of "Chief Painter" are authorized to sign their works. Herend also offers the option to replace any lost or broken parts you've purchased since production. Inspired primarily by nature, Herend incorporates distinctive birds, meaningful flowers (such as lotus and peony), butterflies, and Chinese motifs into its decorations. Prices for Herend porcelain vary depending on the intensity and richness of the decorations.
