New for 2012 is a minimalist new collection created by the Vienna-based Polka Design Studio for the Herend Porcelain Manufactory.
The design of the new collection is simple, balanced and extremely elegant. Its shapes are inspired above all by the latest trends in tableware, making it suitable for a variety of functions.
Herend is using what it calls "blue glaze" for decoration for the first time. This is why the porcelain is dishwasher safe.
These new decors, "Écaille" and "Carpe", are inspired by Herend's traditional fishing net patterns used in manufacturer's figures and are characterized by the geometric repetition of precise lines. Polka Design Studio has based its design on the fishnet ring pattern, creating practical, everyday products with a rich variety of decorative motifs.

Herend is not just a porcelain brand, it is an art passed down from generation to generation. While traditional methods are used in the production of porcelain, technology is used only for heating the kilns. The unique whiteness, transparency, and clarity of porcelain are achieved with a special blend of raw materials. Specially trained painters at Herend paint the figures in daylight. Only those who hold the title of "Chief Painter" are authorized to sign their works. Herend also offers the opportunity to reorder any lost or broken piece of any product you purchase since its production. Drawing particular inspiration from nature in its decorations, Herend incorporates distinctive birds, meaningful flowers (such as lotus and peony), butterflies, and Chinese motifs. Prices of Herend porcelain vary depending on the density and richness of the decorations.
Not dishwasher safe. It is recommended to use a mild dishwashing detergent. Do not use a wire or hard, abrasive sponge.
